This 3-day performance series at The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts featured percussionists hailing from the Richmond, VA area. The event was headlined by 2X Grammy-award winning drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Nate Smith, and featured performances by Dr. Jovia Armstrong, Kelli Strawbridge, Dusty Ray Simmons, Billy Williams, and many more. The drummers interacted with a site-specific light sculpture that was designed specifically for the performance space at VMFA. In the days leading up to the event, I adapted the audio-visual system to a variety of different percussion instruments, and worked with each musician to develop individualized color palettes for their performances.
